That&#8217;s what you can see<span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0at the archeological sites along\u00a0<span style=\"color:#993300;\"><a style=\"color:#993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/KEpoEhSnawk\"><span style=\"color:#800000;\">Via dei Fori Imperiali<\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">,<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0the road leading to the Roman Colosseum. It cuts through two rectangular spaces which, two thousand years ago, were the pearls of the Roman architecture, art, and politics;<strong> t<\/strong><\/span><strong>he Forum of Caesar<\/strong> and <strong>the Forum of Augustus<\/strong>. Now, they are just stones surrounded by hordes of tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><strong>If only stones could tell tales<\/strong>&#8230; <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">But wait.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">In the Eternal City, they can.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 540px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width:100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/LzYGU392zmF1u\/giphy.gif\" width=\"540\" height=\"304\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color:#808080;\"><span style=\"color:#999999;\"><em>ANIMATION ART GIF<\/em>. The project started in 2014, <strong>celebrating a bimillennium of the death of Augustus<\/strong>, and originally involved a digital projection only on his Forum. It&#8217;s like ten one-story houses put one next to each other. Pretty cool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Viaggio nei Fori\u00a0<strong>brings\u00a0to<span style=\"color:#000000;\"> life the marble stones and columns<\/span><\/strong>. During the show, the pieces are precisely pointed out using lights, even though they are lying all over the place.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Using captivating and vivid animations, the stones not only seem to tell their stories, but also <strong>change colors, sizes, and locations<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" style=\"max-width:100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/AJXUrt0j5yVjy\/giphy.gif\" width=\"450\" height=\"252\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color:#808080;\"><em>RYSE: SON OF ROME RYSE GIFS GIF<\/em>. Through your headphones, you are hearing exciting sound effects, dramatic music, and both informative and fascinating narration in English, Italian, Spanish, French, Russian, Japanese, German or Chinese. Both<\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0shows are\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"css-133coio etbu2a32\" style=\"color:#000000;\">impelling<\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0motion as a consequence of the dynamic animations and light effects, and as notices\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><a style=\"color:#800000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amandaruggeri.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amanda Ruggeri<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">, a travel journalist for the BBC and the National Geographic, in her\u00a0<span style=\"color:#800000;\"><a style=\"color:#800000;\" href=\"https:\/\/revealedrome.com\/2016\/03\/rome-light-show-imperial-forums-caesar-augustus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog about Rome<\/a><\/span>, the digital shows on both Forums<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">lead\u00a0visitors through a usually-inaccessible\u00a0archaeological site.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">However, <strong>on the Forum of Caesar, the viewer is a physical visitor.<\/strong>\u00a0You walk underneath the Via dei Fori Imperiali, you walk throughout the Forum of Caesar itself, you walk between the columns and walls. One can argue that there is none. It has a clearly touristy nature, while, for instance,<span style=\"color:#800000;\"> <a style=\"color:#800000;\" href=\"http:\/\/hashtagart.blog\/2018\/10\/06\/art-on-themert-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Chicago&#8217;s <strong>Art on theMART digital projection<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, is indeed a fusion of art and digital. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><strong>The digitalization of spaces in Rome<\/strong> has been happening for a few years now, including finding innovative and expressive ways of giving the historical sites new identities, for instance in the project <em>Videocitta<\/em>. <strong>Viaggio nei Fori<\/strong> seems more like an educational experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_538\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-538\" style=\"width: 702px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-538\" src=\"https:\/\/hashtagart.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/bez-nazwy-6-e1546978779205.jpg?w=1404\" alt=\"bez-nazwy-6.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"193\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-538\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color:#993300;\"><a style=\"color:#993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/carolemage\/8070757045\/in\/photolist-dbQYe9-dibJTx-dibV3V-dibz7o-dibAt2-dibzqs-dibxWJ-dibA7v\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reconstructive view<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color:#808080;\">of the Forum of Augustus from Museo dei Fori Imperiali in Rome. No digital or physical material can convey the effectiveness of the visual and emotional narration that <strong>the shows on the Forum of Augustus <\/strong>and<strong> the Forum of Caesar carry<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u00a0T<\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;\">he effect?<strong> Spectacular<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 204px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width:100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/YadrWWUR43mFO\/giphy.gif\" width=\"204\" height=\"317\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color:#808080;\"><em>STATUES GIF<\/em>. It is definitely something different, something spectacular and visually captivating. However, <strong>without the sound effects and narration, it loses a lot of its power<\/strong>.
